An Evening with Seattle Cucina and Windermere Kirkland!

What a fun Thursday night we had last week with the Kirkland community! Seattle Cucina teamed up with the warm and welcoming Darren Kentner of Windermere Kirkland to put on the event of our wildest culinary dreams!!

We gathered a group pf 50+ adults (no kids and teens this time!) at a beautiful private home in the heart of Kirkland to eat, cook, and enjoy each other's company. The weather outside was frightful (and wet), but the wine and food were so so delightful (and full of butter!).

Alice and I catered for all of the attendees, making sure every guest was happy and full! We also led an hour and half long cooking demo, preparing the very same food we catered. Since the holidays are coming up, we decided to demonstrate how to make 3 comforting yet unique side dishes plus a dessert.

I bet you were wondering what we ate and cooked! Well wonder no more! We served: a smoked salmon, potato, and citrus salad, bacon and caramelized onion tartlets, gnocchi alla romana with a mushroom ragu, and three types of dark chocolate truffles! The salad was light, unique, tangy, and full of smoked salmon. The tartlets had bacon! Bacon!! Plus their hand-made crusts turned out perfectly flakey, crispy, and buttery. Our beloved gnocchi alla romana were soft, spongey, and perfectly seasoned with light amounts of parmesan and nutmeg. The ragu topping added an incredible warmth and meaty richness, with the amazing power of mushrooms! And finally, the three flavors of truffle, dark chocolate, coffee, and cayenne spice, were a hit!
